[This is the second listing of two for a set of two custom full-size priest dolls. A deposit has already been placed.]
This is a set of two one-of-a-kind, custom-made, Orthodox priest dolls. They are dressed in black cassocks and skufias, have gold crocheted pectoral crosses, and carry small gold crocheted censers.
The heads and bodies are constructed in the Waldorf style (filled and sculpted with tightly wound 100% wool batting). The faces and hands are made of blush-colored cotton knit (especially manufactured for making dolls) and the rest of the body is made of black cotton knit. The beard and hair of one doll was crocheted with brown 100% wool yarn and stitched in place. The beard and hair of the second (curly-haired) doll was crocheted with brown acrylic yarn and stitched in place. The latter doll also has a bun at the nape of the neck.
The removable skufias were sewn from the same black knit fabric as the bodies. The pectoral crosses were crocheted with gold thread and are also removable. The cassocks were made of the same cotton knit fabric, are removable, and close in the front with two patches of Velcro.
The miniature censers were crocheted from gold thread over wool-wrapped wooden forms. A small loop of black elastic is sewn to the top of each censer so it may be fitted over the doll’s hand or wrist. Six tiny gold bells were stitched to the chains.
Care: While the cassocks and skufias are of cotton and completely washable, I recommend spot cleaning the dolls themselves as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to wash the dolls.
