Description
This is a one-of-a-kind Orthodox nun Waldorf-style doll. Her black rassa and scarf are stitched down and not designed to be removed. There are no small parts and she is made entirely with cotton knit, cotton-blend knit and wool. This makes this doll appropriate for babies and toddlers although older children would enjoy her as well.
Her head and body are constructed in the Waldorf-style (filled and sculpted with tightly wound sheep’s wool). The face and hands are made of peach-colored cotton knit (especially manufactured for doll-making) and her body is made of black cotton-blend knit. Her eyes are embroidered with blue floss and her eyebrows are inked in.
Her scarf/veil is made of the same black knit and has a small cross embroidered in red on the front. Her rassa is made of the same fabric. It is free from the hem to the neck and is tightly sewn to the body at the neck and arm openings.
She has a knotted prayer rope (simple knots) sewn securely to her right wrist.
I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if necessary. Use cool water and gentle soap or detergent and do not wring or scrub. Lay flat to dry after rolling in a towel to remove excess water. Do not dry with heat. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to wash her.
