This is a one-of-a-kind Orthodox priest Waldorf-style doll. Everything is stitched down and not designed to be removed. There are no small parts and he is made with 100% cotton knit, cotton-blend knit, and wool. This makes this doll appropriate for babies and toddlers although older children would enjoy him as well.
His head and body are constructed in the Waldorf-style (filled and sculpted with wool). The face and hands are made of peach-colored cotton knit especially manufactured for doll-making, and his body is made of black cotton-blend knit. His beard and hair are crocheted with 100% merino wool yarn and should not shed. The eyes and eyebrows are embroidered.
His skufia is made of black knit fabric and is stitched to his head. His cassock is made of the same black knit. It is free from the hem to the neck and is tightly sewn to the body at the neck and arm openings. His pectoral cross is crocheted from gold crochet thread and stitched down behind the neck and at the shoulders. It has been stiffened slightly to keep its shape.
I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if necessary. Use cool water and baby wash or a gentle detergent such as Woolite. Do not wring or scrub; press the water out gently and lay on a towel to dry. Never use heat to dry the doll. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to wash him.
