[This is the second listing of two for a custom order.]
These adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style dolls were made with meticulous care. They are fully dressed and come with their own tiny Orthodox nun dolls.
Their skin is peach-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Their heads were sculpted with wool and the faces embroidered. Their bodies are also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Each doll’s shoulder-length hair is made of brown (different shades), acrylic yarn, individually knotted to a crocheted cap which is securely sewn to the doll’s head.
Each doll is dressed in a cotton dress, buttoning in the back with two buttons, and matching bloomers. They have hand-knitted wool socks and crocheted Mary Jane shoes which have functional buttons on the outer sides.
In addition they each have a hand-knit cardigan with a pocket to hold a doll or any other small toy. Each has a matching knit scarf (buttoning under the chin or at the back of the neck) and wears a tiny cross crocheted from cotton crochet thread.
As mentioned above, they have their very own tiny nun dolls. They were made from cotton knit, stuffed with wool, and have red embroidered crosses on their heads.
The dolls also have matching pink flannel nightgowns trimmed with lace and a bow, and buttoning at the back with one wooden button.
The dolls and all of their clothing are made from my original patterns.
Dimensions: approximately 18 inches tall, the doll in the purple sweater (the younger sister) being slightly smaller
Note: *The dolls’ clothing includes buttons which may be a choking hazard for small children.
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The dresses, bloomers, nightgowns, purple sweater and scarf (acrylic/tencel), socks, and shoes are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning the smaller items in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. The pink sweater (wool/acrylic/nylon) and scarf should be hand washed in cool water using a wool wash or very gentle detergent (or even baby wash). Do not wring or scrub. Lay flat to dry, gently reshaping as needed. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.) Do not place the woolen items in hot water, agitate, or dry with heat.
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the dolls. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
