This adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll.
Her skin is peach-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is made of brown acrylic yarn, individually knotted to a crocheted cap which is securely sewn to the doll’s head.
She is dressed in a cotton dress which buttons in the back with three functional buttons, and matching bloomers. She has hand-knitted wool socks and crocheted wool Mary Jane shoes which have functional vintage buttons on the outer sides.
In addition she has a hand-knit wool cardigan with a pocket to hold a doll or any other small toy, a matching wool knit scarf (which ties under the chin or at the back of the neck) and wears a tiny cross crocheted from cotton crochet thread. She has two matching hair bows attached to small alligator clips.
As mentioned above, she has her very own tiny nun doll. It was made from cotton knit, stuffed with wool, and has a red embroidered cross on the forehead.
For bedtime she has a nightgown trimmed with vintage lace trim.
The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns.
Dimensions: approximately 17 inches tall
Note: *The dolls’ clothing includes buttons which may be a choking hazard for small children.
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The dress, bloomers, nightgown and socks are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning the smaller items in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. The sweater, scarf and shoes should be hand washed in cool water using a wool wash or very gentle detergent (or even baby wash). Do not wring or scrub. Lay flat to dry, gently reshaping as needed. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.) Do not place the woolen items in hot water, agitate, or dry with heat.
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the dolls. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
