[Custom order for C. C.]
This teething doll is soft and sturdy. The head form is made of a woolen core wrapped with very soft polyester fiber filling. The fabric is 100% quilting cotton on top and velvety minky dot underneath. The face and hands are made of tan cotton knit especially manufactured for Waldorf doll-making. A cross is embroidered in red on the front of the nun’s veil. Her eyes are drawn on with permanent marking pen and her cheeks are blushed with organic beeswax. She holds an all natural, untreated, organic, solid birch wood ring (2 1/8 inches diameter) made in the U.S. Her hands are sewn together so the ring is not removable.
Dimensions: 10-11 inches tall; square is 11-12 inches when opened up.
Care: machine wash on gentle cycle in cold water; dry on low heat. She may also be hand-washed and hung to dry. (She has not been prewashed so wash before giving to a child.)
These soft dolls are for the youngest little ones. They’re crafted from cotton knit and stuffed with sheep’s wool which is traditional for Waldorf-type toys. Each doll is approximately 5 to 7 inches high, just right for little hands. Equal parts machine and hand-sewing. These are a good size to tuck in the diaper bag and bring out for church, and they’re quiet too!
The monk dolls have flat sleeves and stitched-down hands, the right hand holding an embroidered prayer rope. A tiny red cross is embroidered on the front of the doll’s veil. The cotton knit (peach) for the skin is manufactured especially for dolls and resists pilling. The side seams are triple stitched for durability. The brown beard is cut from an upcycled cashmere sweater and stitched down onto the face.
Several ribbon loops are stitched into the bottom seam of the doll.
Care: Hand wash with a very small amount of a mild detergent in cool water. Gently squish the doll in the water without rubbing or wringing. Rinse thoroughly in the same way. Gently press out as much water as possible, then roll in a towel and press out additional water. Lay flat to dry. Do not machine wash or use heat as the wool stuffing will felt which will cause the doll to harden and lose shape. Wool has natural antimicrobial properties and will resist mildew and bacteria.
