Description
This stuffed bear is soft and squishy with a comforting weight. Just right for hugging, toting around, or displaying.
The bear was hand-knit with acrylic yarn and stuffed with polyfil. Small weights consisting of glass microbeads sewn securely into cotton pouches are placed in each paw and in the lower torso. The bear is washable and dryable (instructions below) making it an ideal child’s toy. The face is embroidered with yarn so there are no small parts.
He wears a hand-knit cardigan in my own pattern made of wool and wool-blend yarn and a matching knit scarf. The cardigan buttons with five buttons and has a pocket on the right front. (Washing instructions below.) He also wears a pair of wire rimless spectacles which are settled securely, but not permanently attached, to his face. The ear pieces are inserted into knit stitches on either side. Small loops at the end of the wires hold them in place but may be carefully detached.
Care: Wash the bear in cool to warm water with mild detergent, no bleach. Dry on medium heat. For best results (and I strongly recommend it) pin the bear in a pillowcase or other bag to keep items from snagging the knit. Hand-wash the sweater and cardigan in cool water with mild detergent, not agitating too much to avoid felting the wool. Squeeze as much water out as possible, rolling in a towel, and lay flat to dry. Do not iron.
