This is a one-of-a-kind Orthodox nun Waldorf-style doll. Her black rassa and scarf are stitched down and not designed to be removed. There are no small parts and she is made almost entirely with 100% cotton knit and wool. This makes this doll appropriate for babies and toddlers although older children would enjoy her as well.
Her head and body are constructed in the Waldorf-style (filled and sculpted with felted wool). The face and hands are made of fair-colored cotton knit and her body is made of black cotton knit. Her eyes and mouth are embroidered with embroidery floss and a pink blush is added with red beeswax.
Her scarf/veil has a small cross embroidered in red on the front. Her rassa is free from the hem to the neck and is tightly sewn to the body at the neck and arm openings. She has a wool yarn prayer rope (simple knots, not cross ones) sewn to her right wrist.
I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if necessary. Use cool water and do not wring or scrub. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to wash her.
