Description
{Reserved for M.B.}
This adorable, spunky, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll.
Her skin is tan-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is 100% mohair bouclè from an adult angora goat. Each strand is individually knitted into a tightly-crocheted cap and sewn securely to the doll’s head. She has gold hoop earrings which are not permanently fastened. [If you would like me to do this before sending you the doll please let me know and I can do this.]
She is dressed in a cotton dress with 3/4 ruffled sleeves and a ruffle around the hem. It buttons in the back with two buttons. Her leggings are made from coordinating knit and are elasticized at the waist. Underneath she has pale pink cotton panties trimmed with lace. She has hand-knitted wool socks and sandals with canvas uppers and cork soles.
In addition she has a hand-knit cardigan vest fastening with a decorative wooden button. Her headband is made from the sane knit fabric as the leggings and can be opened up to form more of a head covering if desired. She also wears a tiny turquoise cross on a gold crocheted chain with a lobster-claw clasp.
As mentioned above, she has her very own tiny nun doll. It was made from cotton-poly knit, stuffed with wool, and has a red embroidered cross on the forehead. She carries her in a knitted wool crossbody bag.
The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns.
Dimensions: approximately 19 inches tall
Care:
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.) The dolls hair should be finger-combed rather than brushed.
Clothing: The dress, sweater, leggings, headband, socks, and panties are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning the smaller items in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. The bag should be hand washed in cool water using a wool wash or very gentle detergent (or even baby wash). Do not wring or scrub. Lay flat to dry, gently reshaping as needed. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling in a towel first.) Do not place the woolen items in hot water, agitate, or dry with heat.
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the doll. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
