This adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll and extra clothing.
Her skin is blush-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool, the features felted until firm, and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is 100% blond mohair yarn crocheted into a cap, sewn securely to her head, and brushed out. It is currently in two French braids but can be brushed gently and styled how you wish.
One outfit consists of an adorable blue and grey gingham print dress with hand-smocking. It has cap sleeves, ties in the side seams, and buttons in the back with four heart-shaped buttons. She has a matching hand-knit cardigan and pixie bonnet to wear with it. Underneath she has pink, lace-trimmed bloomers and a white, lace-trimmed petticoat.
Her second dress is a wrap-around sleeveless dress in pink and green floral. It has an inside tie and ties in the back with a side-seam sash. It is trimmed in both miniature pink rickrack and pink floral trim. On top she wears a hand-knit, short-sleeved cardigan with one flower-shaped button. A pink lace-trimmed bonnet ties under her chin with satin ribbon. On each side is embroidered a white flower.
She also wears a tiny cross crocheted from cotton crochet thread which fastens with a lobster claw clasp. It is stiffened with fabric stiffener. She has a crocheted shoulder bag which holds her miniature nun doll. On her feet are crocheted, slip on Mary Jane shoes.
Her clothes may be mixed and matched.
The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns. The dresses, bonnet, and underclothes are all cotton. Her blue knots are an acrylic blend. Her white knits are merino wool.
Dimensions: approximately 15 inches tall
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The underthings, dresses, and bonnet are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning them in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. I recommend that the sweaters, knit hat, bag, and shoes be hand-washed and laid flat to dry. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.)
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the doll. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
