This adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll and extra clothing.
Her skin is blush-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool, the features felted until firm, and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is 100% mohair bouclé yarn. It was crocheted into a cap which was sewn securely to her head, and then long strands were individually knitted over the entire cap. brushed out. It can be styled by finger-combing (do not brush bouclé yarn).
One outfit consists of a white cotton dress with a blue-and-white seersucker, hand-smocked pinafore. The dress bodice buttons in front with three buttons. The pinafore ties in the back with a white satin sash. Underneath she has white cotton bloomers.
Her second outfit consists of a white knit short-sleeved shirt which fastens in the back with Velcro. Over it she wears teal, small-wale corduroy overalls in a paisley pattern with contrasting polka dot fabric accents including a pocket on the front. It buttons with two plaid wooden buttons.
She has a royal blue wool cardigan which buttons with three buttons. Her striped socks are knit from wool sock yarn. Her slip-on shoes are crocheted from brown wool yarn. Her hat is crocheted with the same wool yarn and partially felted.
For bedtime she has a long-sleeved nightgown made from a very thin cotton lawn print. The wrists and neck are elastic.
She also wears a tiny cross crocheted from blue cotton crochet thread which can fit over her head. The cross portion is stiffened with fabric stiffener. She has a knitted (acrylic yarn) cross-body bag which holds her miniature nun doll. Her nun doll is 2 1/2 inches tall and made from cotton knit, stuffed with wool.
Her clothes may be mixed and matched. The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns.
Dimensions: approximately 15 inches tall
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The dress, pinafore, bloomers, nightgown, overalls, shirt, and scarf are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning them in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. The sweater, hat, bag, socks, and shoes should be hand-washed in cool water and laid flat to dry. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.)
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the doll. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
