Description
This adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll.
Her skin is blush-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool, the features felted until firm, and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is 100% brushable mohair from an angora goat. It is brushed from a tightly-crocheted cap and sewn securely to the doll’s head. Many additional long strands are knotted into the cap to give the hair more length. While she comes with her hair in two braids it may be styled however you wish.
Her underclothes are soft knit and double as lightweight pajamas. Over them she wears a fine wale corduroy pleated skirt in dark red. It buttons at the back of the waist with one button. She wears a finely-knit twin set in grey and off-white. The shell is short sleeved and has one button at the back of the neck. The cardigan is striped and buttons in the front with four buttons. She has hand-knitted wool knee socks and crocheted wool Mary Jane shoes which have functional buttons on the outer sides.
The crowning glory is, of course, her cloche hat. It is crocheted using grey wool and a wool flower is felted directly onto the hat.
In addition she has a hand-knit wool shoulder bag which holds her miniature nun doll. She wears a tiny cross crocheted from cotton crochet thread which fastens with a lobster claw clasp. It is stiffened with fabric stiffener.
As mentioned above, she has her very own tiny nun doll. It was made from cotton-poly knit, stuffed with wool, and has a red embroidered cross on the forehead.
The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns.

Dimensions: approximately 17 inches tall
Care:
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The underthings, skirt, and socks are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning them in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. The twin set may be machine washed but I recommend laying flat to dry. The shoes and hat should be hand washed in cool water using a wool wash or very gentle detergent (or even baby wash). Do not wring or scrub. Lay flat to dry, gently reshaping as needed. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.) Do not place the woolen items in hot water, agitate, or dry with heat or they will felt and shrink.
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the doll. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
