This adorable, one-of-a-kind Waldorf-style doll was made with meticulous care. She is fully dressed and comes with her own tiny Orthodox nun doll, a blankie, and extra outfits.
Her skin is blush-colored high-quality cotton knit, especially manufactured for making Waldorf dolls. It is free from harmful chemicals and resists pilling and wear. Her head was sculpted with wool, the features felted until firm, and the face embroidered. Her body is also stuffed entirely with wool. (All of the wool is OEKO-TEX standard 100. Wool retains body warmth and resists bacteria and mold, and so makes an ideal stuffing for dolls.) Her hair is 100% mohair weft sewn securely to the doll’s head. It is naturally curly and can be styled in different ways.
For bedtime she has a soft knit nightgown with matching panties and nightcap. For her feet are crocheted slippers. She also has a hand-knitted blankie.
One outfit consists of an adorable puffed sleeve dress in a large botanical print. It buttons in the back with four wooden buttons. Underneath she has striped tights and on her feet are crocheted, brown wool boots. On top she wears a hand-knit cardigan with four wooden buttons. A pocket in the front holds her miniature nun doll. Her elfin hat is knit to match and ties under the chin. She also wears a tiny cross crocheted from cotton crochet thread which fastens with a lobster claw clasp. It is stiffened with fabric stiffener.
Her second outfit consists of a pull-on gathered skirt in floral cotton with an elastic waist and lace trim. On top she has a chunky turtleneck sweater in a wool-blend. Her clothes any be mixed and matched.
The doll and all of her clothing are made from my original patterns.
Dimensions: approximately 14 inches tall
Doll: I recommend spot cleaning the doll itself as needed, and hand-washing if absolutely necessary. Soak in cool water using a gentle detergent or baby wash. Gently squeeze out excess water; do not wring or scrub. Lay on a towel to dry for one or more days depending on humidity. There are several good sites online giving explicit directions for cleaning Waldorf dolls and I recommend consulting them if you feel you need to do so. (The tiny nun doll should be similarly hand-washed and laid out to dry.)
Clothing: The underthings/night clothes, skirt, dress, and leggings are all machine washable and dryable. I recommend pinning them in a lingerie bag so they do not get lost. I recommend that the sweaters, hat, and boots be hand-washed and laid flat to dry. (Hint: excess water may be removed by rolling these items in a towel first.) Do not place the woolen items in hot water, agitate, or dry with heat or they will felt and shrink.
This doll will be shipped USPS Priority mail with insurance equal to the value of the doll. (Insurance is included in the price of the doll.)
